…we
are building community through meaningful relationships with
non-Christians, one-on-one or in families, in our living rooms, in
dinner
parties, in cafes, in neighborhood associations, in PTAs- in whatever
comfortable setting that will allow engaging with them so that they may
see the love of Christ and understand that historic Christianity is relevant
to all of life.
…there is spiritual transformation in the community neighborhood as we love our neighbor by extending the same mercy we receive, serving
the needy, promoting justice and seeking ways to promote its welfare.
We envision being a people with discerning eyes and tender hearts toward
God’s world and our neighbor, looking for every opportunity to
engage in Kingdom evangelism: demonstrating gospel motivated good works,
living as light and salt, and faithfully proclaiming the gospel message.
…there are multiple small home groups serving as a microcosm of
and a “side door” to the larger body life, where seekers
are welcomed to witness the truth and power of the gospel actively transforming
the lives of redeemed sinners living by grace. We envision these small
groups exhibiting patient understanding, reliance on grace, freedom for
authenticity and vital prayer for each person in his Spirit-paced journey
of faith.
…ethnic diversity
is celebrated; the God honoring aspects of each culture will be embraced
while sinful aspects will be challenged by the
truth. We envision reconciliation between different races and socioeconomic
classes.
…there are
restored family relationships, fathers graciously serving as humble
heads of their homes and each member fulfilling their biblical
roles, strong marriages, children honoring those in authority, and proper
stewardship of financial and material resources.
…all of life as worship is seen as worship. We envision our corporate
worship of God to be culturally appropriate, rooted in scriptural truth
and characterized by joy and intimate reverence. The informal service
will blend contemporary and traditional songs which engage our minds
and affections. Christ-centered, expository preaching will provide “light
and heat” relevant for the entire family.
